ShimSwim was created by our founder, Ethan Schimel, known as “Shim,” from a deeply personal place. As someone who is genderfluid, Shim experienced firsthand how limiting traditional swimwear can feel when it is not designed with gender diversity in mind. Finding bikinis that felt comfortable, affirming, and aligned with both identity and style often meant settling for options that did not truly fit. Through conversations and shared experiences within the LGBTQ+ community, particularly among trans women, revealed a recurring gap in the swimwear industry. Many trans women struggle to find swimwear that offers the coverage, support, and confidence they deserve without sacrificing style or dignity. ShimSwim was created to help address that gap. ShimSwim designs inclusive swimwear with intention. Our bikinis are thoughtfully constructed to offer full coverage and supportive fits, designed to be worn in the way that feels right for you. Whether someone chooses to tuck or not, the focus is on comfort, confidence, and peace of mind so you can move comfortably and enjoy the moment with confidence.
